Nirnay - (निर्णय) - Decision

Nirnay, a project of ACT, a registered NGO aims to provide children, parents and other care givers access to quality counselling services and training inputs in order to build healthy individuals, families and communities.

Our Mission

To enhance emotional, mental, physical and social development of children who are at risk due to poverty, trafficking, addictions, parental neglect or abuse by providing training inputs and counseling services for children, parents, teachers, and other caregivers. To enable them to access these services in the local schools, slum communities, remand homes, workplaces, housing societies, partner NGO centers and any other places they frequent on a daily basis.

Nirnay has been working in over 30 schools in Mumbai over the last 6 years to provide psycho social care to vulnerable children and families through school counselling. We developed a Life Skills curriculum called “Dare to be Different” which has 10 modules to help children make informed choices. This curriculum has also been translated to Hindi and Marathi.

Nirnay is also involved in helping victims of sexual exploitation/human trafficking live productively, independently and are restored to dignity, by providing psycho social support for the girls to promote long-term recovery and future self-reliance.
