The Challenges

In India, many stories make the headlines every day about the number of children who commit suicide. More children seem to be under stress and lack adequate coping skills.

Teachers and parents have observed that today’s children are vulnerable to various psychological disorders because of the fact that they are pressurized on every front mentally and emotionally.

Those who live on the streets or in slum communities are faced with many painful challenges because of poverty, poor quality education, sexual exploitation, and therefore lack basic opportunities for growth and development.

The Need to

• Build the child’s emotional and psycho-social needs which have been brushed aside.
• Training in principles that protect and nurture healthy emotional and psycho-social development simultaneously.

How we do it?

• Nirnay attempts to meet this need by providing vulnerable children access to counseling and training inputs so that all round development is achieved.
• Parents, teachers and other primary care givers are also encouraged to play an active role in the process through the focused workshops that we conduct for them.
