Meet the team

Shinnie Steven - Project Director
Shinnie has more than twelve years of experience in the field of social work. As the Project Director,she is actively involved in educating parents, teachers and children through varied programmes such as Child Protection, Parenting, and Sexual Health Education. She is passionate about her work and is driven to address issues of children, parents, schools and the community. She is also a professional counsellor and presently counsels individuals on issues pertaining to children and adolescents. She is a postgraduate in Psychology.

Rabina James - Project Co-ordinator
Rabina has completed her Bachelors in Theology. She is a trained counsellor and counsells children in schools. She is also an excellent communicator training teachers and parents on various issues. She has been with Nirnay for the past five years and is an integral part of the team. She is currently pursuing Masters in Psychology from Chennai University.

Sunitha Joseph - Senior Counsellor and Trainer
Sunitha's fourteen years' plus experience has enabled her to produce pioneering work that has become a part of Nirnay's flagship programs. Prior to joining Nirnay, she was involved with community development through ACT, a registered NGO. Sunitha has completed her Masters in Social Work (with specialization in Urban and Rural Community development) from Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

Annapoorani - Counsellor and Trainer
Annapoorani is an engineer by profession, but after a few years in the field, felt the need to quit and pursue counseling as a vocation. She enjoys counseling, and looks forward to making a difference in the lives of the people she works with. When not counseling, she trains on various issues pertaining to youth and parents.

Sushmitha - Counsellor and Trainer
Sushmitha has an MA in Clinical Psychology from Mumbai University . She has six years experience in counselling and training. She has been involved in counselling HIV affected children & adults for over 5 years . She is currently involved in training, conducting workshops for schools and corporates.

Sandra Francis - Counsellor and Trainer
Sandra Francis is a Social Psychologist and is a counsellor and trainer with Nirnay. She seeks to help people out of their emotional hardships especially children and adolescents, though she works with adults as well. It gives her immense satisfaction to see people live their life to the full.

Ajitha Anand - Counsellor and Trainer
Ajitha Anand worked in the field of corporate communications for four years advising companies like Bharti, ITC, Bajaj Auto and Diebold HMA in their interactions with the media and the external world. After a career break, she is pursuing her interest in counseling, driven by a desire to serve the underprivileged in society. She is a trained counsellor and is counseling children in a Mumbai-based school and remand home.

Kanta Pravin - Counsellor and Trainer
Kanta Pravin is a counsellor with Nirnay. She is currently counselling in a remand home, helping victims of sexual exploitation/human trafficking by providing psycho social support for the girls to promote long-term recovery and future self-reliance.

Hepsiba - Administration
Hepsiba has about 34 years of Secretarial and Administration experience including 12 years in the Insurance field in Bahrain. She worked with us as Administrator and Educator for 4 years. She has now joined us as Administrator after taking a 3 years break. She is also a trained Counsellor from Person to Person counselling centre.
